Help Me / No "Hit" on a person...can it be done?
« on: February 06, 2023, 11:39:18 AM »
Format for my league for reference. 18 dedicated players per season. Costs per each league night is $100 ($70 for nightly prize, $30 towards championship game). Each player is obligated to the $30, whether they show or not.
Points are added by 1pt per hit, and 1pt per position (18th place gets 1pt, 17th place 2pts, all the way up to 1st place getting 18pts).

I see two options of how to handle someone not showing...does anyone have a better way?

First Option...Add the no show players to tournament, $0 buy in to keep nightly prize pool correct, and edit the player so he gets 0 points for the night instead of the typical 1pt for last place.
The problem with this option is how do I knock the player out of tournament without someone being named the hitman and getting an extra point for the "hit"?

Second Option...if I don't add them to the tournament for that night, I would manually edit each player so that the points would be correct. In other words, if 1 player doesn't show, he will not be put into the tournament and will get 0pts, but the person knocked out next, 17th place, will still gets 2pts. So I would have to edit every player to correct pts once tournament is over.

This should work well but is there a better way?

Help Me / Re: Status Updates
« on: January 24, 2014, 11:35:15 AM »
I am also having issues. I can create my own websites and use one for my home poker league (www.cellardwellerpoker.com). I also host my own website on reseller servers, so I have total control of them. I’m not a professional at websites at all but understand how they’re done. I am having a hard time figuring out how to upload a status of a tournament using Status Updates. I have installed Wordpress on my site (www.cellardwellerpoker.com/livestatus) and have tried a lot of different things to get the status to update. I get a “Succeeded” message when using “Post”, but nothing shows. Now I assumed this would fail as you need credentials in order to upload a file. How do I set this up so that my tournament Status Updates will work? I see no field for credentials. I'm sure this is Status Updates 101, but some help would be appreciated.

Sorry Corey...I'm confused. If I do get this formula correct, and each person still gets points....will my "Bubble" and "Times Placed" fields be accurate? Maybe this will help somewhat. I've attached a backup of my tournament file. The goal is to make it so that the 2 fields ("Bubble" and "Times Placed") are correct in the stats. The league is in it's 7th year and going well....just trying to automate a process I currently do manually.
If you need to see the current stats, I have them all on our league website, www.cellardwellerpoker.com/standings.htm. Enjoy the site while you're there.

That's correct. But the "position*5" is not correct as it would give first place only 5 pts and last place pts * number of players. I almost need a reverse point total. "#of players * 5" for first, (# of players -1)*5" for 2nd and so on...but that defeats the purpose of streamlining it.

Not sure I understand that formula. The +2 seems like it will always add +2 only. If a person knocks out 10 people...how does the +2 correlate?
I ran the formula but saw no changes in the stats...am I placing this in the correct area? I assume the formula should be placed in "Stats", "Edit Profile", then in the "Scoring" field...correct?
I should mention that when I say first person gets 5pts...I mean first person knocked out. So in a 10 player tournament, the winner would get 50, 2nd gets 45, 3rd gets 40...etc down to 10th getting 5pts. If there are 15 people in the tournament, it changes...1st would get 75 pts, 15th place would get 5pts.
I give 2pts for each person they knock out also.
The original problem is trying to setup the scoring so that "Bubble" would show in my stats properly. Right now because I give cash and points, no one bubbles. I want this stat to show who bubbles on the cash prize.

Been using TD for years...and never had to adjust any actual formula. I made up templates (see below) using the number of players as the name of the template, and just load that template in when we know how many players. This shows the cash and points and has worked well for years. Except now I want to add the bubble...and the way I've done it messes up the "Bubble" result in TD.
Could I get some help using the "Points for Playing" formula? The league awards cashes (6-19 players, 3 places - 20-30 players, 4 cashes) to the winners, but all players get points depending on finish. 1st person out gets 5 pts, 2nd 10pts, etc. The more players we have, the more points the winner will get. We also give 2 pts per hit.

Thanks...let me work on this and see if I can get it. Haven't played with modifying the formulas at all. I'll keep you posted on how this goes,

I am trying to figure out how to accurately use "Bubble" and "Times Placed" in my stats. When I see the statline for "Bubble" is shows 0 bubbles for all users, and when I choose "Times Placed" it shows everyone placed as many times as they bought in. I assume this is because of our prize allocations where we award points to all users, but cash only to the top 3 or 4 depending on how many players in the tournament.
Does anyone know how I can accurately use these stats given my league setup?

Sorry it took so long to respond. I didn't realize that after the tournament was played I could change the table layout. I did this and that worked perfect. Tanks for your help.

General Discussion / Re: NexGen Chips

Just my two cents...I have no experience with chips other the the composite. I used the dice and suited ones for a while and went to a 14G chip, but by far the best chips I ever used (I've only been to one casino) were the customized ceramic poker chips at thechiplab.com.

The graphics came out nice and the feel of the chips are exactly what the casino's around the Northeast use. I have gotten MANY compliments from every player in our league over these chips. These were my first ceramic chip I've used and from the name I was very leary because I thought they would crack easy or feel weird, but they really are great chips.

Can you tell I like these chips? If you want to see the ones I designed, they are at the bottom of the website for our home league.

The price for customized chips were slightly under $1/chip...expensive, but well worth it.

I have it configured this way now, and it works fine...but is there a way to go back (for the purpose of getting correct final table stats) and edit the database to have only the top 8 as getting to the final table?

Is there a way to edit the "Final Table" stats that show up in the "Stats" tab.

Let me explain. Our league has 10 person tables setup because if we get 20 players, we want 2 tables, and not 3, but final table is always 8 players. In the latest case, we had 2 tables of 8 players at the start, using 8 players for the final table. Someone accidentally hit the "move players" after busting someone out, when there are 10 players left, which made them all on the final table (because I had 10 player tables set up). I realize I could change my final table to 8 players, and I will do this, but in the meantime, I want to fix the stats now if I could. I have 4 tournaments to correct, where 10 players are in the final table, when actually, it was only 8.

OK...after a long winded explanation...is there a way to do this?
