Suggestions / Prize payout function with receipts
« on: October 19, 2020, 11:02:07 PM »
I have finally invested in a cash drawer and receipt printer and built a custom receipt, complete with a custom logo.  It's great to have the drawer pop for me on nearly every transaction type.  I picked up a handheld scanner and made up laminated player's cards, complete with QR code for adding players.

It would be FANTSTIC if there were a function at the end of the tournament that printed out receipts for prizes so the drawer pops and my cashier can simply payout what they see on the receipt.

Thanks for everything!!

Help Me / Updates corrupting program settings and preferences
« on: October 11, 2020, 10:52:33 AM »
Hello,

The last couple of updates have caused some chaos in the normalcy of my tournament settings, but this last one reeked havoc on my files.

1.) user preferences were all lost.  All of them.
2.) database settings were corrupted.  Somehow, the player images defaulted to old pictures.  I had made updates to the images and none of them were saved.
3.) and this is the most frustrating one, season settings were dropped from previously saved, completed games.  The stats profiles were not properly updating, so I opened some older tournaments and there were no season settings saved to them.

This was just last night that we played, I will open the program back up later today and go back and reset a bunch of stuff, but that’s what I came across so far.

General Discussion / Re: Is anybody playing home games?

We started back up last week.  We do temp checks at the door and require everyone to hand sanitize anytime they get up from the table or accidentally touch their face and mouth, etc.  Our group size is always two tables or less, so the risk is fairly low for our group.

General Discussion / Re: A new barcode+thermal printer thread.
« on: August 02, 2020, 11:30:44 PM »
Thought that I would add my own experience in this area...

I had been using the receipts features for several years now.  I had been using a conventional inkjet printer (an inexpensive HP that I got at Target for about $30 at the time) to print out receipt cards.  This method served me well, but I suppose the drawback was that I needed to replace the ink cartridges after a time, and that would get expensive.

I found this thread recently, and when my ink ran out yet again, I finally decided to go the thermal route.  I know the other posters here use the Epson TM-T20II, which is a great printer, but I found an inexpensive generic-type printer on Amazon for $35 with free shipping, which is probably less than I would have paid for the ink on the other printer (you might even be able to get the same printer on Ebay for less).  The receipts it prints are smaller in width than what the Epson prints, at 2 1/4 inches, but it's adequate for what I'm using them for.  I used the included receipt template and modified it slightly.

I already use a barcode scanner, and I give my members cards with a barcode on the back that I scan (the Gold cards are for charter members; the blue for everyone else).  The printer then prints the receipts with the table and seat info, and we're good to go.

As the OP mentioned, if you are on the fence regarding instituting this type of setup for your game, you should indeed go for it; even if you don't want to go the barcode scanner route, just having the printer with the table and seat info is helpful by eliminating the "What table am I at?" questions.

If I may ask, how do you print the player's cards?
